Just East of Champaign is the city of Danville, Illinois, for those of you that are not from the Champaign, Illinois area. This past Sunday the family and I took a drive over to Danville for an outing. We were driving North on Vermillion St. and just outside of town I decided to turn back to the West on Newell Rd. to start heading back home. As we headed down the road we past an area on our left and decide to turn around and go back to see the what the area was.
We pulled into the parking lot of an area called Heron County Park. This, by their web page: http://www.vccd.org/giheron.htm is a man made wetland. There is a tower you can climb to get a birds eye view of the area. They also have a 950 foot long handicapped accessible floating walkway.
Along with all the lilies, cattails, trees, there are eagles in the area too, I wish the eagles would have been closer to get a better photograph, but you have to take what nature at the time is willing to share.
As we took a walk along the floating walkway we encountered this turtle sunning itself. There are also fish in the water (but no fishing from the walkway!). The lilies were flowering quite nicely, but unfortunately they were all facing the sun and I was unable to get a good photograph.
All in all it was a great day with the family and God's great outdoors! I'll be making a return photography shoot trip the first of October to see what other wildlife will be there. Plus I have read that the Eagles will be more abundant. Keep a lookout for my report in October and enjoy the rest of the pictures.
P.S. I can wait to get this last view again with the trees in their full Fall colors.
I visited Weldon Springs (which is about 40 miles West of my home in Champaign, Il) this year with my son for a fishing trip. The wind was very light, so the water at time looked like a mirror. Though the fishing was not very productive, just being out with my son in God's great creation was worth the trip. I did a lot of photography that day while we were there.
We have several areas around Champaign, Il to venture out in Nature.
Several years ago the city of Champaign created an area to help prevent flooding in the University of Illinois campus area.
As you can see, the wildlife has made its' self at home.
I do love to photography God's creations, especially humans. If I can be of service to you for you photography needs, please contact me, I would love to work with you.
Well that's all for now, I would also like to know what types of photography you like to see.
I currently live in Champaign, Illinois, having grown up in Tolono, Illinois.
The past year, with retirement three years away, I was contemplating what I wanted to do to stay busy after retiring. I thought a lot about mowing yards in the Summer, but someone at work who does this suggested the I look for something else since my wife (Alison) and I want to travel. I have always had an interest in photography and I had been playing around with my sons camera and decided that I would start a photography business.
I love to see beautiful photos of people and places. I started educating myself about photography and January 2013 I started Chuck Abeln Photography so I could provide people their photographic needs. I offer a wide variety of services, except weddings at this time. I want to excel at photography and provide people with exceptional photography.
If I can be of help in fulfilling you photography need, please contact me and lets talk.
Thanks for Visiting Chuck Abeln Photography
